Glass Laser Etched Buddha Sphere~GLASEBUD. These beautiful glass spheres are internally laser etched with a 3D image. Glass is made from natural and abundant raw materials (sand (silica/quartz), soda ash and limestone). Glass manufacturing has an age-old tradition which dates back to around 3500 BC when glass is believed to have been first artificially produced in Egypt and Mesopotamia to be used as jewelry and later as vessels. The ancient Egyptians recovered Soda Ash from dry dessert lake beds or produced it by burning marine plants with high sodium content to produce ashes, which gave the commonly used name of ‘Soda Ash’. They used it to reduce the melting point of silica sand to produce glass vessels and ornaments – the same basic production technique used in glass manufacturing today. The Buddha (also known as Siddhattha Gotama or Siddhārtha Gautama) was a philosopher, mendicant, meditator, spiritual teacher, and religious leader who lived in ancient India (c. 5th to 4th century BCE). He is revered as the founder of the world religion of Buddhism. He taught for around 45 years and built a large following, both monastic and lay. His teaching is based on his insight into duḥkha (typically translated as "suffering") and the end of dukkha- the state called Nibbāna or Nirvana. A couple of centuries after his death he came to be known by the title Buddha, which means “Awakened One” or the "Enlightened One".  78mm
